SIKESTON - James William "J.W." Sherwood, 63, died at 8:10 a.m. Sept. 21, 2001, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
Born July 13, 1938, at Sikeston, son of the late James "Ode" and Mamie Robinson Sherwood, he was a retired farm worker for Parker Brothers Farms and Kesler Farms. He served in the Missouri National Guards for nine years.
On March 11, 1981, in East Prairie, he married Judy Bridges who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: six sons, Brian Turner of Essex, Michael Turner of Sikeston, Tom Sherwood of New Franklin, Paul Sherwood and Steve Sherwood of Hinesville, Ga.; and Elvis Lee Sherwood of Paradise, Calif.; three daughters, Laurie Johnson of Glasgow, Mary Buchanan of Flayarty, Ky., and Katherine Sherwood of Paradise, Calif.; and 23 grandchildren.
Graveside services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Matthews Cemetery with the Rev. Charles H. Pipkins of Parma officiating.
Pallbearers will be: Brian Turner, Paul Sherwood, James Metcalf, Todd Buchanan, Steve Sherwood and Terrell Johnson.
