NEW MADRID - A mistake in the city's liquor-by-the-drink license fee was discussed in a meeting of the New Madrid City Council Tuesday. A review of the ordinance showed that liquor by-the-drink establishments in New Madrid are to be charged $450. According to Shelby Savat, city clerk, they were charged $300 for the last three years.

On first- and 10 from the New Madrid 41, quarterback Scott Collins dropped back, spotted wide receiver Justin Towe streaking down the sideline and connected on a beautiful strike for the score. Sikeston rolled to 45-16.
SIKESTON - There is a growing number of older Missourians retaining their health and maintaining their homes until an older age, according to the University Extension's Office of Social and Economic Data Analysis. As a result, the number of households in Sikeston have increased since the 1980s. The 1991 census shows a total population of 17,641, compared to 17,431 in 1980.
