Born March 11, 1927, in Benton, son of the late Ernest and Grace Dark Floyd, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during World War II. A heavy equipment operator until his retirement, he was a member of Operating Engineers Local 513.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Vernon Wayne and Michele Floyd of Buffalo, N.Y.; one daughter, Connie Sue McCumber of Kansas City, Mo.; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Carl Floyd of Eureka, Jerry and Connie Floyd of Cedar Hill, and Willard and Martha Floyd of Sikeston; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Luella Bradish of St. Louis and Barbara and Jimmy Johnson of Sikeston; one granddaughter, Tracy McGaugh of Kansas City, Mo.; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston where services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Tom McCanless, pastor of the Kewanee Missionary Baptist Church, will officiate.
Burial with full military honors will follow at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
