OKAWVILLE, Ill. - Janet Hodges, 61, died at 3:45 a.m. Aug. 5, 2004, following an extended illness.
Born Jan. 30, 1943, in New Madrid County, Mo., daughter of the late John and Virginia Young Allen, she owned and operated Oak and More Furniture in Okawville and Fairview Heights. She and her husband also made and sold handmade quilts throughout the midwest. She was also gifted at making crafts and was a member of the Hillcrest Christian Church in Belleville.
On Oct. 11, 1960, at Kennett, Mo., she married Dale Hodges who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: four children and their spouses, Laura and Joe Glass of Fort Knox, Ky., Allen and Melissa Hodges of Waterloo, Susan and Donny Wild of rural New Baden and John and Rhonda Kemper Hodges of Okawville; one sister, Wanda Gaines of Columbia, Mo.; seven grandchildren and spouses, Jeremy and Kymm Fernandez, Michael and Ashley Fernandez, Kristine Kraft, Jeffrey Kraft, Brandon Hodges, Garrett Hodges and Alex Hodges; and three great-grandchildren, Blake Fernandez, Brenden Fernandez and Michelle Fernandez.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Dean Allan; and a sister, Doris Clayton.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Campagna Funeral Home in Okawville, where visitation will continue from 7:30 a.m. Saturday until service time at noon.
Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery at Okawville.
