DEXTER -- Matt Burnett rushed for 254 yards on 17 carries and scored three touchdowns to lead the Dexter Bearcats past East Prairie 41-6 Friday night.
The Bearcats (3-2) gained 337 yards of total offense, while their defense limited the Eagles (1-4) to only 151 yards.
Dexter had the game in hand from the outset, leading 13-0 after one quarter and 27-0 at the half. Burnett scored on runs of 2 and 46 in the first half while Josh Lilly returned a punt 58 yards for a score and junior quarterback Preston Clark scored on a two yard keeper just before the half.
The second half proved to be much of the same as seconds into the third quarter, Burnett scored on a 60-yard touchdown scamper. After Josh Boyer of the Eagles scored on a one-yard touchdown run to cut the score to 34-6, Dexter's Garrett Williams answered with a one-yard touchdown run of his own to complete the scoring.
Boyer led the Eagles in rushing with 53 yards on 20 carries while Matt Boyer completed 9 of 19 passes for 78 yards.
Dexter will travel to Charleston Friday night while East Prairie will host Chaffee.
