Four fishermen face charges

Thursday, August 30, 2001

CARUTHERSVILLE - That catch of the day had a real hook in it for four fishermen who thought they discovered the perfect fishing hole.

At 7:51 p.m. Wednesday, Pemiscot County sheriff's deputies received a report of persons trespassing at one of the Commercial Catfish Ponds located on Route U and Interstate 55.

James S. Bruton, the owner of the business, told deputies he had found four men fishing in a pond.

The men were arrested by deputies and taken to the Pemiscot County Jail where they were charged with misdemeanor trespassing and stealing. Their names were being withheld by authorities pending the men's appearance in court.
