SIKESTON - W.O. Carroll, who has been a member of the American Legion for 32 years, was elected commander of the Henry Meldrum Post 114 at a special session of the organization held at the armory Monday night.

SIKESTON - Bob Porter, chairman of the 39th annual Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo, is calling for more floats for the rodeo parade. So far a number of most interesting entries have been received, including an oxen and wagon and some old-fashioned vehicles.

NEW MADRID - The Missouri Highway and Transportation Commission has approved a $38,000 grant to the New Madrid County Port Authority and a $22,600 to the Mississippi County Port Authority to assist in operations for the 1982 fiscal year.

SIKESTON - Last year more than $1,500 was raised for the Kenny Rogers Cerebral Palsy Center through a promotion sponsored by Red Baron Pizza. This year the project is again under way. Currently, the pizza company is donating 5 cents from each of its pizzas sold in Southeast Missouri to the local Cerebral Palsy Center for operational expenses.
