CANALOU -- Pauline Metheny, 77, died at 5:06 a.m. Oct. 18, 2004, at Missouri Southern Health Care in Dexter.

Born Feb. 13, 1927, in Falls City, Ala., daughter of the late Arthur E. and Evis Savannah Horton Ergle, she had lived most of her life in Canalou and was a housewife. She was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church of Matthews.

She was first married to Curtis Orr.

In 1956, at Hernando, Miss., she married Cecil Metheny who preceded her in death on Dec. 5, 1984.

One son, Johnny W. Orr; four brothers; and two sisters also preceded her in death.

Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Curtis E. and Mary Ann Orr of Canalou and J.C. and Laura Orr of Rockford, Ill.; one daughter and son-in-law, Paulette and Leon Cobb of Bernie; one brother, James R. Ergle of Jonesboro, Ark.; five sisters, Gertrude McCoy and Charlotte Tidwell of Matthews, Edith Grainger of Sikeston, Ruby Lucero of Ottawa, Kan., and Juanita Ergle of New Madrid; and 16 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Blanchard Funeral Chapel in Sikeston where services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Willie Ray McCoy, pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church in McComb, Ill., will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Matthews Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Paul Larson, Charles Smith, Jeremy Lewis, Nathan Dowdy, Steve Helser and Jeff Vaughn.
