WYATT -- Coy Douglas Fitzgerald, 56, died March 12, 2008, at the Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born June 10, 1951, at Cairo, Ill., to the late Orin Douglas "Buddy" Fitzgerald and Mary Louise Lomax Fitzgerald Vaughn, he had lived his entire life in Mississippi County where he attended the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Wyatt. He had been employed as a riverboat captain and pilot for over 30 years until ill health forced his retirement. He was a veteran having served with the U.S. Marine Corps.
Survivors include: two sons and one daughter in law, Shawn and Lisa Fitzgerald and Coy Lynn Fitzgerald of Charleston; one daughter and son-in- law, Misty and Steven Smith of Charleston; five brothers, Riley Fitzgerald, Charlie Fitzgerald and Michael Fitzgerald of Wyatt; Don Fitzgerald of Keystone Heights, Fla., and Clint Fitzgerald of Jacksonville, Fla.; four sisters, Bess Harris of Wyatt, Charlotte Knece of Onalaska, Texas, Linda O'Toole of Masaryktown, Fla., and Evelyn Reddit of Zephyr Hills, Fla.; four grandchildren; and his former wife, Brenda Lynn Warren Fitzgerald of Charleston.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Tommy Fitzgerald, and two sisters, Stella Bauer and Shirley Ann Fitzgerald.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Saturday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. The Rev. Kenneth Gibson of Wyatt will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
