SIKESTON - Twin sons, weighing 6 and 6 1/2 pounds respectively, were born Friday morning to Mr. and Mrs. M.G. McCoy.

SIKESTON - When the Kiwanis Club of Sikeston pauses next Tuesday night to celebrate its 26th anniversary, the Kiwanians will be joined by a number of personages important in Kiwanis in addition to a number of state officials and area people present to hear the address by Lt. Gov. Hilary A. Bush.

CHARLESTON - The City Council Tuesday night adopted an ordinance setting the dates for the city's general and primary elections in 1982 and the filing deadline for two positions to be filled.


CHARLESTON - Ken Wasson, city manager of Charleston for the past three years, submitted his resignation to the City Council Tuesday in an executive session at the close of the regular monthly meeting.

SIKESTON - They may not be Santa's elves, but through their efforts Christmas will be brighter for children in Sikeston and the surrounding area this year. Participants at the Sikeston Senior Citizens Center have volunteered to assist in the 13th annual Standard Democrat Community Christmas Campaign.


SIKESTON - Sam Hunter is the Elks Lodge Sikeston High School student of the month for November. The son of Sam and Erica Hunter is a senior at SHS.


CHARLESTON - Since 1966-67, the Business and Professional Women's Club has selected a Woman of the Year and Becky Coon was named 1992 Woman of the Year Thursday.
