SIKESTON - A suspect has been arrested by detectives with the Sikeston Department of Public Safety in connection with the theft of a 35-foot Michelob Ultra Bottle Balloon.
"The arrest came after several tips were called into DPS from concerned and caring citizens," said DPS Director Drew Juden.
Juden said the suspect was picked up and, after questioning by DPS detectives, confessed to stealing the balloon and then informed DPS of where it could be found. The balloon has been recovered and placed into evidence.
The investigation is continuing and one other arrest is expected. Juden said the suspect's name is being withheld pending filing of formal charges by Scott County Prosecutor Paul Boyd.
The balloon was reported stolen from the Bootheel Golf Club on July 16 during the annual Hooter's Tournament. Valued at $15,000, the property is owned by the National Golf Association.
