Murder investigation ends with arrests

SIKESTON -- A 17-month murder investigation in Scott County has ended with the arrest of five men, four of them from Sikeston.

According to Scott County Sheriff Bill Ferrell, five people were arrested and are charged in connection with the murder of Don Prude of Blythville, Ark. On May 30, 2000, Prude was shot numerous times in his car on Hickory Street in Haywood City.

Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Paul Boyd has filed first degree murder charges against the following men on Wednesday: Earl F. Brown, 18, of Marion, Ind.; and Hershal B. Wiley, 18, Willekis B. Dorsey, 19, Tyrone Sheron, 22, and Michael S. Sheron, 27, of Sikeston.

Scott County Sheriff's investigators, Sgt. Jerry Bledsoe and Deputy Bobby Sullivan were assisted in the investigation by the Division of Drug and Crime Control of the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

"The relentless determination of Sgt. Bledsoe and Deputy Sullivan resulted in these charges being filed," Ferrell said.
