DEXTER -- Essie Evans Vinson, 88, died Aug. 3, 2004, at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter.

Born May 11, 1916, in Maynard, Ark., daughter of the late Clabe C. and Bessie Elena Fowler Evans, she had lived in Sikeston, Lebanon and East Alton, Ill., before moving to Dexter in 1979. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Dexter.

On April 8, 1941, in Ancel, she married Edwin Campbell Vinson who preceded her in death on Jan. 4, 1992.

Survivors include: three brothers, Fowler Evans, Keiger Evans and Billy J. Evans of Dexter; and three sisters, Theda Nydegger of Stayton, Ore., Wilma Thomasson of Mount Vernon, Ore., and Wanda Norman of Pleasantview, Utah.

One sister, Madge Evans, also preceded her in death.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, where services will be at 10 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Dale Grissom of Dexter will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
