Speakout 8/3

It seems awfully funny that when you live in the country and notice that the electric company has been out twice in one month to read your electric meter.

I am calling about the rodeo queen for this year. I thought you had to be from this area in order to win something like that. I don't think it's fair to let someone outside the Sikeston area, as far as this girl is from, for something like that and to be crowned queen. We have a lot of pretty young ladies in and around Sikeston who could run and win the same title.

The Miss and Junior Miss Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo pageants are open to contestants living in and outside the city limits of Sikeston. Girls ages 18-24 are invited to compete for the title of Miss Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo and ages 14-17 compete for the Junior Miss title. The competition includes a variety of events, including horsemanship, speech, interview and modeling. We agree that there are a lot of pretty young ladies in and around Sikeston who could compete. They had the same opportunity as those who did compete in this year's event.

I read "Listen and learn" about not voting for John Kerry or Edwards. I don't care who you vote for, but whoever wrote that, please put in the paper what all George W. Bush voted for before he was elected president and what all he has done? All he has done is gotten a lot of our good boys killed. If you're a mother with a young son, you better not vote for George Bush because wants to go to war with Cuba and we'll have to have boys to do that. There will be a draft if George Bush is re-elected. Mark my words.
