SIKESTON - Tuesday night, the automobile dealers of Sikeston were hosts for an appreciation dinner for Joseph L. Matthews, president of the Bank of Sikeston. Included in the part were several life-long friends of the banker and invited guests.

EAST PRAIRIE - A bomb threat at East Prairie High School early today was termed a hoax by Police Chief Bill Aycock after the premises and exterior of all buildings were searched and no explosive device was found.

SIKESTON - On Thursday, for the first time in history, the 15-member Missouri Arts Council gathered in Sikeston for one of its three yearly meetings. The state agency is a part of the Missouri Department of Economic Development and its members are appointed to five-year terms by that department following consultation with the governor's office. The council's office is in St. Louis, but the group itself travels around the state for meetings in February, June and October.

SIKESTON - Students and parents sang along with Principal Vera Glueck of the Sikeston Kindergarten Center while she conducted a sing-a-long at Bailey Early Childhood Development on Thursday. The group sang tunes about the leaves turning colors, riding the bus and Halloween.
