I live in Commerce and I just want people to know that during the Flood Fest we had team roping events for the tourism organization and it went over very well. Now a couple members of the town board in Commerce are trying to stop the tourism organization from having any more team roping in the month of October. I wish you would do an article about it.

Why does the Standard Democrat not report the rainfall Since this is an agricultural area? I am sure many residents would like it reported. Why does the paper report all of the details of the river stages?

Have you checked the Sunday weather page for rainfall totals?

It is time for a big change in this country. If a person is not for good they are against good. What do we need to do to be for good? We can be fair and honest in all that we do. Don't be wasteful and be considerate of others. Put in a full day's work. Be true to your spouse and your friends. These are general things that you can do. You can do more, however. You can get involved. Do volunteer work. If you know someone who is cheating, stealing, shoplifting or doing drugs, tell them how wrong it is. If you know a drug pusher, turn him in. You don't have to give your name or testify. Tell the racist it's time to change their ways. Hate groups like the Ku Klux Klan should be dissolved. If you support them in any way, stop at once. Stand up not only for your rights, but also for what is right.

Hey Charter Cable. Why is ESPN and ESPN 2 blacking out certain programs while we are paying you for 24-7 viewing?

There are a lot of things you Bible-thumpers are going to jump on. My Bible says that when you take the Lord as your Savior, he will be with you 24 hours a day; he will never leave your side. Where was he when this happened to the Twin Towers? You say he doesn't help you unless you ask him to. You can't tell me that when the noise happened and the building shook that somebody there didn't ask for a lot of help. If you've never been on a battlefield, you don't know what I'm talking about. But I thank you for your time anyway.

I've been reading where a lot of people are donating to the American Red Cross for the victims in New York City. I hope they haven't forgotten the victims in Washington, D.C. Surely some of this money is going to them.

We have the firewood you are seeking. Call us at 471-4193.

If the terrorists don't already know where everything is, they can just listen to the news media and find out right where to go as they're preparing. They can get all the information they want from the news media and they even show the pictures, tell where our boys are, what they're doing to fight germ warfare. Sometimes I wonder who's working for who?

I'm calling in response to the "Change the policy next year" that was in SpeakOut about a black child not winning the Cotton Top contest. Apparently this caller was not aware that there was a black child who won last year. Maybe they should get their facts straight before they cry "discrimination." This is not discrimination at all.

I'm calling about the Cotton Top contest, where someone said it was discrimination because they had all white kids and all white judges. I want to tell that caller something. It's not discrimination unless your kid has blonde hair. I've never seen a black kid with blonde hair, have you? I don't think it's discrimination. Do you? I don't think so. And as far as comparing it to terrorism, I don't see what in the world that has to do with anything. You're just so ready to yell discrimination that you can't see what's right and what's not.
