Suspects sought by DPS

SIKESTON -- Officers with the Sikeston Department of Public Safety are looking for three individuals wanted in a burglary and assault Tuesday night.

According to reports, at approximately 6:30 p.m. Tuesday three black males knocked on James E. Cooper's home at 808 Ruth. When Cooper answered the door, the men rushed into the house and demanded money.

One man was carrying a rusty gun while another had a crow bar. When Cooper did not give them any money he was hit in the head repeatedly with the gun and crow bar. The men then fled on foot without getting any money.

Cooper was taken to MIssouri Delta Medical Center where he was treated. Cooper received numerous wounds to his head and cheek.
