Sikeston JV wins

CAPE GIRARDEAU - The Sikeston junior varsity basketball team captured the consolation championship in the Notre Dame JV Tournament on Friday, defeating Cape Central 49-39.

Sikeston trailed 21-19 at the half but outscored the Tigers 17-6 in the third quarter to take control of the game.

Sikeston's Freddie Wiggins finished with 14 points, 10 rebounds and seven blocked shots. Blake DeWitt followed up with nine points while Marcus McCaster and Apollo Patterson each had eight points.

Wayne Wiggins led Cape Central with 14 points.

Sikeston's junior varsity (3-1) will play Marion, Ill., on Tuesday at the Field House at 6:00 p.m.
