SIKESTON - Missouri Delta Community Hospital announced two births: a son born to Mr. and Mrs. Don E. Culbertson and a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. Rhea.
SIKESTON - Sleet and snow made driving hazardous. Some of the flakes were a half-inch in diameter. Some schools were closed, but Sikeston was in session.
SIKESTON - The Delta Area Economic Opportunity Corporation is accepting applications for home heating help. Application can be made at 201 S. Kingshighway. Interested people can also apply at the Chaffee Nutrition Center.
SIKESTON - The Sikeston Community Choir will begin rehearsals at 7:15 p.m. today at the Sikeston High School choir room for the 24th Annual Spring Concert to be presented May 3. Rehearsals will be conducted each Thursday until the concert. Director William Grega asks that choir members arrive at 7 p.m. today so folders can be passed out and $5 dues collected.
SIKESTON - Plenty of Sikeston defense, little Oran offense. Together, it combined to give the Lady Bulldogs a dominant first half as the hosts rolled out a 61-39 win Wednesday. Oran's 20 turnovers and 10 first-half points were enough to help Sikeston put the game out of reach early. It moved the winner's record to 4-4.
VANDUSER - Filing deadline for two positions on the Board of Trustees is set for 5 p.m. Feb. 4.
