SIKESTON - Negotiations were completed Thursday by which Orville Taylor purchased a half interest in the National Funeral Home from W.C. Croy of Poplar Bluff. The name of this business will be changed to the Taylor Funeral Home and he will be in active charge of this business.

SIKESTON - Pat Lea of Sikeston, who has received endorsement for the appointment as state Democratic Party chairman, reports he made a donation to the campaign of Republican Bill Emerson to encourage support for the St. John's Bayou-New Madrid Floodway project.
SIKESTON - The Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce has begun to sell a limited edition Christmas ornament. This year's ornament features the historical downtown depot. Greg Smith, planning consultant for the Deaf and Blind, was the first person to purchase an ornament. They are available at $8 each at the Chamber office or any of the banks in town.
SIKESTON - Public Works Director Doug Friend reported on the cleanup of 73 properties in the city. "The projects seem to be going real well," he said, noting a "positive response from most residents." The properties feature high weeds, trash or vacant and dangerous structures.
