NEW MADRID - Henry E. Fowler, 83, died Jan. 14, 2002, at Beverly Health and Rehab in New Madrid.
Born July 5, 1918, in Lawrence County, Tenn., son of the late Will and Emma Walters Fowler, he was a farmer in the local area before retiring and member of New Madrid Masonic Lodge 429 AF&AM. He was inducted into the Southeast Missouri Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame in 2000.
On June 15, 1940, in New Madrid, he married Josephine Champion who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Jim Duke of New Madrid; one son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Annette Fowler of Lake Charles, La.; one brother, W.B. Fowler of Sikeston; one sister, Pearl Fowler Wilson of New Madrid; and four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Bertha Fowler; and four brothers, Floyd Fowler, Charlie Fowler, Coy Fowler and Bill Fowler.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at Richards Funeral Home, where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Tom McCanless, officiating.
Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
Pallbearers will be: Danny Hall, David Eddy, Brent Shanks, Gerald Murphy, Jerry Eddy and Freddie Copeland.
