SIKESTON -- Sikeston's wrestling squad upped its dual record to 5-4 on Thursday, rolling over Dexter 58-18.
The Bulldogs were able to pin their adversaries in 10 of the 13 matches, with most coming in a relatively short amount of time.
"I halfway expected us to come out sluggish, because we've really been practicing hard this week," said Sikeston coach Chris Hodgkiss. "But the guys came out with a lot of intensity and got some good pins."
Cody Ryan (112), Adam Miller (119), Kyle Weeks (125), Cleveland Anthony (130), Justin Keller (140), Tony Reynolds (145), Scotty Keenan (152), Jackie Cowley (160), Scott Heuiser (189) and Joe Johnson (Hwt.) were all able to pin their opponents.
"Even though some of them were quick pins, they still got some good work on the mat in that short amount of time," said Hodgkiss.
In the 215 division, Sikeston's Stuart Carraway won a 10-1 decision over Dexter's Josh Robinson.
Sikeston also won Thursday's junior varsity match, 42-36. Sikeston winners were Max Hansen (112), Josh Holmes (119), Daniel Klimmek (125), Travis Cummins (130), Derris Butler (135), Kirk Butler (140) and Andy Croxford (189).
The Bulldogs will be back in action next Tuesday, hosting Poplar Bluff in the final home match of the season. The match will be broadcast on SPS-12.
"Next week is going to tell a lot," said Hodgkiss. "If we can have a good last dual meet with Poplar Bluff, and follow it up with some good practices, I think we'll really be ready to go for districts."
