DEXTER - J.R. McLard, 67, died Nov. 20, 2001, at Missouri Southern Healthcare.
Born March 26, 1934, in Bloomfield, son of the late Franklin and Rubie Tankersley McLard, he lived in Dexter most of his life and owned and operated J.R. McLard Truck and Equipment Sales in Dexter, where he was a member of the Assembly of God Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
On Oct. 25, 1953, in Dexter, he married Novella Cates who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, Starlin McLard of Dexter; three brothers, Mitchell McLard of Bennington, Neb., Michael McLard of Chaffee and Ed McLard of Dexter; four sisters, Elizabeth Burns and Pat Miller of Dexter, Frances McLard of Dudley and Ruth Worley of Cape Girardeau; and one granddaughter, Moriah McLard of Dexter.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday with the Rev. George Hill of Dexter, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Walker Cemetery near Bloomfield.
