BENTON - Mr. and Mrs. Paul Welter have announced the engagement of their daughter, Jaclyn Dawn, to Paul Jackson Scott Jr., son of Dr. and Mrs. Paul Scott Sr. of Yellville, Ark.

A 1997 graduate of Thomas W. Kelly High School, Welter will graduate in May 2002 from Southeast Missouri State University at Cape Girardeau with a bachelor of science degree in early childhood education.

Her fiance earned a bachelor of science degree in chemistry from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, graduating in 1997. He is the QS-9000 Quality Systems manager and chemist at Noranda Aluminum in New Madrid.

Wedding plans are under way for a June 22 ceremony at St. Denis Catholic Church in Benton.
