SIKESTON - The Sikeston High School Bulldogs dropped a hard-fought game, 26-6, to Cape Girardeau when they met the Central Tigers at Houck Field Friday afternoon.


SIKESTON - Miss Alice Van Horne and Miss Margaret Lambert were returned to their homes Wednesday from Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, where they underwent appendix operations.

DORENA - Dorena and the adjacent area were hit by a small tornado late Wednesday. Considerable damage resulted on a number of farms and telephones were out of order. There are no reports of personal injuries.

PORTAGEVILLE - Glenn W. Milligan, executive director of the Delta Area Economic Opportunity Corporation, was elected to the Missouri Family Planning Health Council Board of Directors at the council's annual conference this month.

BENTON - One in five Scott County residents may need help for mental health problems at some time in their life. With that in mind, the executive director of the Bootheel Mental Health Center appeared before Scott County commissioners Thursday, asking them to appoint a board of trustees. The commission told Ron Steinmetz it wants time to confer with the prosecuting attorney and county clerk. The 1989-90 General Assembly provided for the board of trustees in House Bill 1383.


EAST PRAIRIE - Prior to their departure Nov. 15 for the State Cheerleading Championships, the East Prairie High School Varsity Cheerleaders had a prediction. "It's OUR turn this year." The title of State Cheerleading Champions in Division II now belongs to the varsity squad.
