SIKESTON - Harry W. Barnes, 67, died Dec. 2, 2001, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

Born Aug. 17, 1934, in Henderson, Ky., son of the late Howard Barnes and Azillee Barnes Sweet, he served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a wrapper operator for Bunny Bread and was currently serving on the Miner City Council.

On May 15, 1969, he married Betty Dozier who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: four sons, Charles Barnes and Ronnie Barnes of Cape Girardeau, Timmy Barnes of Veray, Ind., and Chris Barnes of Sikeston; one daughter, Rosemary Tharp of Benton, Ky.; three brothers, Buddy Fears of Okawville, Ill., and Tommy Barnes and Michael Barnes of Georgia; six sisters, Charlene Hopkins of Kaufman, Texas, Bonnie Campbell and Tyanne Wagner of Okawville, Ill., Renae Cohen of Matthews, Debbie Moreland of Bentonville, Ark., and Gwen Webb of Bertrand; and six grandchildren.

One daughter preceded him in death.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home, where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. John Tarter, pastor of Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, will officiate.

Full graveside military honors will be conducted at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.

Pallbearers will be: Charles Barnes, Timmy Barnes, Ronnie Barnes, Chris Barnes, Todd Tharp, Darren Lowe, Frank Houchins Jr. and Randall Shrull.
