ADVANCE - Brenda Kay Pickett, 56, died Dec. 2, 2001, at her home.
Born March 26, 1945, in Sturdivant, daughter of Mary Moore Hamlin of Sturdivant and the late Paul Hamlin, she was a registered nurse at the Advance Nursing Center. A 1963 graduate of Zalma High School, she served with the U.S. Naval Reserves for 14 years and had been a Girl Scout leader in Advance. She was a member of the Advance United Methodist Church.
On Aug. 30, 1963, in Zalma, she married Don Pickett who preceded her in death on Sept. 30, 1980.
Survivors in addition to her mother include: one son, Christopher Pickett of Sturdivant; one daughter, Mendy Henson of Advance; six brothers, Jimmy Hamlin of Wappapello, Jerry Hamlin of Advance, Billy Hamlin of Bethalto, Ill., Mike Hamlin of St. Charles, Tom Hamlin of Fredericktown and Terry Hamlin of Fort Worth, Texas; two sisters, Alene Fish of Alton, Ill., and Pam Brenker of St. Charles; and five grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and one stepgreat-grandchild.
Two sisters also preceded her in death.
Services were conducted at 11 a.m. today at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance with the Rev. Tom Zych officiating.
Burial followed in Morgan Memorial Park.
