SIKESTON - The PC Editor says, "We have been blessed with another grandchild, the 19th born to Mr. and Mrs. David Blanton, which event took place in the Lucy Lee Hospital at Poplar Bluff Saturday morning. The little fellow has been doing nicely, but we learn Grandpa Hearne is being carefully watched. We welcome David Jr. to our family circle."
SIKESTON - At a time when news reports are full of utility and power companies applying for higher rates, it's refreshing to learn that Sikeston's city-owned power plant, through its Board of Public Works, has been busily engaged for a number of months seeking to set up a more equitable and, in most cases, less expensive system of commercial and residential owners.
EAST PRAIRIE - "Music Man," the Broadway musical by Meredith Wilson, will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 21-22 in the East Prairie High School auditorium by the choral department of the high school. The musical will be directed by Nancy Bird and accompanied by Margie Mickel.
SIKESTON - This past summer was mild in temperature and there was enough rain to allow a good growing season for the trees. The favorable growing season has erupted into piles of leaves this fall.
SIKESTON - What looked like the end two weeks ago, only proved to be the beginning for the Sikeston High football squad. After losing 21-7 to Cape Girardeau Central, the Bulldogs picked themselves up, dusted themselves off and went back to work. The result was two straight victories - a 41-28 win over Poplar Bluff last week and Friday night's 13-0 defeat of Vianney - and their first Class 5A District 1 championship since 1988.
