SIKESTON - A 15-year-old boy is reportedly in stable condition after an accidental shooting Monday evening.
Sikeston Department of Public Safety reportedly responded to a 911 call from an apartment on Montgomery Street at approximately 4:53 p.m.
The victim told the responding officers that the shooter, also a 15-year-old male, was showing him the gun when it fired. The victim was hit in the lower left abdomen.
Emergency surgery was performed on the victim after his arrival at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
The shooter was arrested for the unlawful use of a weapon and taken to DPS for questioning.
DPS officials noted there have been at least two other incidents in Sikeston in which unsupervised juveniles in a home have been involved in accidental shootings.
