SIKESTON - After being closed for five days, the Coffee Shop at the Dunn Hotel opened Tuesday morning under the managership of Frank Armstrong. He has had 11 years experience in the catering field.


SIKESTON - The heaviest rainfall of 1941 fell during a 24-hour period ending at 7 a.m. Tuesday. The 3.55 inches of rain sent small streams out of their banks and left water standing on city streets.

SIKESTON - Students ages 3-6 at Discovery School recently donated gifts to the Standard Democrat Community Christmas Campaign. According to publisher Mike Jensen, the campaign was a success, assisting several families in the Sikeston area.


SIKESTON - The P.M. Kindergarten received their good citizenship awards for good behavior at school.
