SIKESTON - Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Bowman will have as dinner guests on Thanksgiving evening their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Burnice Farmer and son of Charleston; and son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bowman and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Bowman.
SIKESTON - The highest accreditation rating offered by the Joint Accreditation of Hospitals has been awarded to the Missouri Delta Community Hospital. E.P. Coleman, president of the hospital's Board of Directors, presented the certificate of accreditation to Harold Jones, hospital administrator. Before an accreditation is awarded, every department in a hospital is carefully checked and only those meeting the rigid standard are awarded the honor.
SIKESTON - Scott County Presiding Judge Louis Hirschowitz was elected president of the Missouri Association of Counties (MAC). The MAC met at the Lodge of the Four Seasons at Osage Beach Nov. 15-17. The new duties will require Hirschowitz be in Jefferson City two or three times a month.
SIKESTON - If preseason rankings count for anything, then the Sikeston boys basketball team should be in fine shape this season. The Bulldogs have been voted by local sports writers and broadcasters as the No. 1 high school team in Southeast Missouri, according to the preseason SEMO Top 10 poll released today. Sikeston received five of the possible nine first place votes to finish with 79 total points.
SIKESTON - The Sikeston American Legion recently donated $500 toward the Bulldog locker room at VFW Stadium. Post Commander Arthur Bruce presented the donation to Gary Howard, chairman of the project.
