SIKESTON - Amy Marie Young, 22, entered into rest at 9:15 p.m. July 19, 2004, at her home, surrounded by a large number of family members and close friends. She came to Sikeston three years ago from Fisk.
Born July 15, 1982, in Charleston, she was the daughter of Christine Butrum and Ray Averitt of Sikeston and her father, Alvin Young, who preceded her in death on Oct. 13, 1996. Amy was a 2003 graduate of New Dawn State School and member of New Hope Baptist Church. Though she was never able to see or speak, she had a fondness for and a great love of several different kinds of music.
Survivors in addition to her mother and stepfather include: one brother, Scott Allan Young of Sikeston; one sister, Christi Rene Young and special friend, Bill Vinson of Sikeston; her grandmother, Dorothy Young of Fisk; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of special friends.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. Wednesday until time for a brief memorial service at noon at Blanchard Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Dolan Rogers will officiate.
A graveside service and interment will follow at the Ash Hill Cemetery in Fisk.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
