CAPE GIRARDEAU - A Sikeston man entered a guilty plea Monday to a charge of possessing cocaine base with the intention to distribute.
Mario J. Baker, 20, pled guilty to one felony count of possession with intent to distribute five grams or more of cocaine base.
On June 29, 2001, Sikeston Department of Public Safety officers found a bag containing 7.8 grams of cocaine base in Baker's possession. Baker now faces a maximum punishment of 40 years in jail and a $2,000,000 fine. Sentencing is set for April 1.
Officials praised the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Sikeston Department of Public Safety for their work in the case.
