DEXTER - Ruth Eleanor Bailey, 89, died Jan. 17, 2002, at Missouri Southern Healthcare.
Born Oct. 9, 1912, at Champaign, Ill., daughter of the late Orville L. Branam and Letha Mildred Hardenbrook Branam, she was the stepdaughter of the late Susie Traverse Branam, who raised her from an early age. A member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Dexter, she had been a teacher in the Dexter School District. She was also a member of the Dexter Civic Club, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 511 and Missouri Southern Healthcare Auxiliary.
On Nov. 24, 1936, at Dexter, she married Max Clodfelter who preceded her in death on Sept. 28, 1946. She and E.G. Bailey Sr. were married Nov. 1, 1953, at Dexter and he died May 23, 1973.
Survivors include: two sons, Max Clodfelter of Poplar Bluff and Roy Clodfelter of Leitchfield, Ky.; one daughter, Ellen K. Barstad of Dayton, Nev.; one stepson, Dr. E.G. Bailey Jr. of Dexter; one sister, Maureen Davis of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were one daughter, Mary Ruth Perkins; one sister, Reva Norman; and one grandson, Christopher Wade Clodfelter.
Visitation is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. Saturday until service time at 2 p.m. at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. The Rev. Vaughn Wright will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
