SIKESTON - R.A. McCord, Sikeston auctioneer, was reported somewhat improved Thursday at his home from a four-day attack of hiccoughs, the aftermath of a streptococcus throat infection. He had been troubled with hiccoughs since last weekend but they left him Thursday morning.

SIKESTON - Tomorrow is the 90th birthday of one of Sikeston's most honored and beloved citizens, Mrs. C.L. Blanton Sr., widow of the late Col. C.L. Blanton Sr., editor and publisher of the Sikeston Standard from 1913 until he passed away in 1948.

SIKESTON - Three Sikeston Department of Public Safety officers have been promoted, according to DPS Director Roger Stricker. Detective Richard L. Kreitzburg was promoted to lieutenant; Sgt. John Martin was promoted to lieutenant; and Public Safety Officer Dale R. Leichenauer was promoted to sergeant.

BLOOMFIELD - The Dexter Bearcats blasted Woodland 64-32 in the Stoddard County Tournament Tuesday.

NEW MADRID - Cynthia A. Hadder graduated Dec. 14, 1991, from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau. Hadder graduated with academic distinction while completing a master of arts degree with a major in early childhood education.

CHARLESTON - Reporting the county's various funds are not "in bad shape," County Clerk Junior DeLay budget officer cautioned the county commission Thursday to scrutinize all expenditures this year. All budget requests for county officials, due Wednesday, had not been received. During a budget hearing on requests, DeLay noted budget forms were late in arriving from the auditor's office.
