CHARLESTON - Robert Hartner Byrne, 79, died at 9:30 p.m. Jan. 19, 2002, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born July 14, 1922, in Mississippi County, son of the late Robert and Susie Hartner Byrne, he lived in Mississippi County most of his life where he was a retired farmer. He had served as a pilot with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Charleston.
On March 9, 1945, he married Nadene Jeanes who preceded him in death on Feb. 17, 2000.
He was also preceded in death by one great-granddaughter, Kassidy Anne Thurman.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and the Rev. Deborah Byrne of Charleston; one brother, J.D. Byrne of Charleston; three grandchildren, Micah Byrne, Audra Byrne Thurman and Elizabeth Byrne; and one great-granddaughter, Brittney Byrne.
Visitation is scheduled for 5 to 8 p.m. today at McMikle Funeral Home where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Gerald Collier, pastor of the First Baptist Church, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.
Pallbearers will be: Micah Byrne, Luke Thurman, Brian Bradley, Harry Warren III, Bryan Feezor, Robert Jackson and William Jefferson.
