SIKESTON - Robert Paul Johnson, 53, formerly of Mississippi County, died at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 28, 2002, at the Clearview Nursing Center.

Born Sept. 3, 1948, in Mississippi County, son of the late Tom and Clara Loretta Hale Johnson, he lived in Scott and Mississippi counties most of his life and was a welder for Dry Docks in St. Louis until 1968, when he became disabled. He was of the General Baptist belief.

On March 13, 1968, he married Paula Thurman Meeks who survives of Charleston.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Patricia Groves of Bertrand and Bobbie Woods of East Prairie; two brothers, Ray Johnson of Painton and Jasper William Johnson of Kankakee, Ill.; three sisters, Evelyn Miller of Charleston Route 1, Wihelma Burk of Foristell and Barbara Figliolo of Festus; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, one sister and one grandson.

Visitation is from 10 a.m. Saturday until service time at 1 p.m. at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. The Rev. Loy Miller, pastor of Temple of Faith General Baptist Church in Sikeston, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
