SIKESTON - Lynn Farris, a senior at Sikeston High School, has won the 1962 Betty Crocker Search for the American Homemaker of Tomorrow competition. She had the highest score among senior girls on a test taken Dec. 5.

SIKESTON - The Sikeston City Council in a special meeting Monday afternoon voted unanimously to have an ordinance prepared and presented to the council at its next regular meeting for the adoption of the Lizabeth Subdivision Sanitary Sewer District project.

NEW MADRID - The City of New Madrid officially marked its designation of an "All Missouri Certified City" with the addition of a sign to the population sign. Charlie Robinson and Eddy Stockman, supervisor for the Highway Department, placed the sign Friday. The city earned the designation from the State of Missouri's Department of Economic Development following an evaluation.


BLOOMFIELD - Seven of Richland's nine varsity players scored in double digits Wednesday in the team's 95-57 win over Bloomfield in the first round of the Stoddard County Athletic Association tournament. Bloomfield led 16-12 after the first quarter, but Richland took control in the second quarter to post a 36-23 halftime lead.


SIKESTON - Logan Russ Kirkpatrick, son of Kevin and Melinda Kirkpatrick, celebrated his first birthday on Jan. 12. A first birthday teddy bear theme was used for the party, where guests were served birthday cake and ice cream.
