SIKESTON - Sgt. Charles Clore, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Clore, formerly of Sikeston, and brother of Mrs. May Parker, who lives in Sikeston, was killed in an accident in France July 14. His wife, Freda Clore of Gape Girardeau was informed Saturday by the War Department.

SIKESTON - At 5 a.m. Thursday, 32 Boy Scouts from Sikeston, Charleston, Bloomfield, Lilbourn, Wyatt, Dexter and Essex, will start a 19-day tour that will take them to Valley Forge, Pa., for the National Boy Scout Jamboree. They will also visit Chicago, Detroit, Niagara Falls, New York and Washington, D.C. The local scouts have been assigned as National Jamboree Troop 58 with J.C. Newcomer of Bloomfield as Scoutmaster.

SIKESTON - Students attending the Sikeston Public Library's Summer Reading Program received fire safety tips Tuesday afternoon. Members of the Sikeston Department of Public Safety's Fire Division and Smokey stressed the importance of fire safety to the students.

SIKESTON - Angela Zorbas spotted for Trisha Pelcznski during a morning workout. Athletes from cheerleaders and cross country runners to football players have been preparing for fall activities in the high school weight room this summer.

EAST PRAIRIE - Jordi Lynn Ferrell, 4, is the reigning Little Miss East Prairie. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Buzz Ferrell of Sikeston, Jordi was featured with her court in the Fourth of July parade. First-place honors went to Casey Palmer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Palmer of Sikeston, and taking second place was Katara Pruett, daughter of Sharon Pruett of East Prairie.
