VIENNA, Ill. - William A. "Bill" Abate Jr., 32, died at 4:25 p.m. July 6, 2002, at Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis.
Born May 13, 1970, in Chicago, son of Donna Stone Abate of Irving, Texas, and the late William A. Abate Sr., he was a student at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. A 1988 graduate of Vienna High School, he had attended Shawnee Community College in Ullin and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Abate formerly owned and operated Vienna Video and worked in the grounds keeping department at the Union County Country Club in Anna. He attended Crossroads Bible Church at Norris City.
On May 26, 1990, at Vienna, he married Jennifer Sue Huff who survives of the home.
Survivors in addition to his wife and mother include: one son, Hunter Daniel Abate of the home; one daughter, Julie Grace Abate of the home; one sister, Anna Massey of Florida; three brothers, Andy Abate and Joe Abate of Irving, Texas, and John Abate of Sikeston, Mo.; and a special friend, Neil Bundren.
Visitation begins at 5 p.m. today at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna, where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Leo Hall, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Gilead Cemetery near Simpson.
