Two are killed in separate car accidents

SIKESTON -- Two New Madrid County residents were killed in separate automobile accidents over the weekend.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports at 10:05 p.m. Saturday. in New Madrid County at Route FF, five miles north of Matthews, an accident occurred as James C. Rose, 62, of Matthews ran his vehicle off the right side of the roadway, returned to the roadway, ran off the left side of the roadway and overturned.

Rose was partially ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene by New Madrid County Coroner Tim Clayton and was transported to Shelby Funeral home in East Prairie.

Then at 4:30 a.m. Sunday Patrick M. Robinson, 39, of New Madrid was traveling in Dunklin County at Missouri Highway 25, one mile south of Holcomb, when he failed to negotiate a curve, drove off the left side of the roadway and overturned. Robinson was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene at 6:02 a.m. by Dunklin County Coroner Jack Adkins.

Robinson was transported to the morgue at Twin Rivers Hospital in Kennett.
