SIKESTON - The Bijou, 120 N. New Madrid, has been purchased by Carl W. Ward and will be closed for several days for cleaning and redecorating.

SIKESTON - Mrs. Nadean Dickerson is a candidate for Democratic committeewoman from Richland Township. Dickerson is a lifelong Democrat who has been active in the Democratic Party for many years. She has lived in the Sikeston area all of her life and is aware of the needs and problems of this section of the country and of the Democratic Party.

SIKESTON - Results on the BEST test, the Missouri Basic Essentials Skills Test, for Sikeston eighth graders have held somewhat constant during the six years the test has been administered here, with the exception of the recent improvements in local test objectives.

SIKESTON - About 80 educators from more than 30 area high schools attended the Applied Academics Workshop at Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff. During the four-day workshop, instructions were given on how to teach applied mathematics and applied communication. Among those attending the workshop were: Nonie Fuchs, Sandy Todt, Toni Tucker, Vicki Bullard, Michelle Graves, Helen Hensley, Dan Woods from Sikeston Junior High School and Joann Sullivan, Stan Bandemann and Wayne Crippen.

MORLEY - The Morley Masonic Lodge will host its annual dinner from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday with the menu including all-you-can-eat chicken and pond raised catfish. The cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children ages 6-12 and children under 6 eat for free.
