Noranda cruises to JBR championship

SIKESTON -- Results of Thursday's Sikeston Area Youth Baseball were as follows.


Colton Black went 3-for-3 with a triple and Kevin Jobe went 2-for-2 to lead Randy's.

Caleb Dunn, Tyler McClinton, Mason Walker and Brandon Wilson had a hit apiece for Ferguson.

Jacob Sauceda had two hits for Ferguson and Colton Black had two hits for Randy's. The win gave Ferguson the championship in Rookie League.


Cord Sheehy and Tyler Anderson combined on the five-hit shutout. Starting pitcher Sheehy allowed three hits in three innings with six strikeouts and one walk. Anderson closed with two innings of two-hit ball with three strikeouts and two bases on balls.

Noranda rolled to the championship in Junior Babe Ruth with a dominating victory. Scott Droddy threw five shutout innings while striking out eight. Dallas Tew threw one inning and had two strikeouts.

Tim Bell took the loss for Market Place, throwing five innings with six strikeouts. Tim Hart threw one inning.

Justin Deere led Noranda with three hits, including a triple. Droddy had a triple, a double and two RBIs. Tew added a double. Matt Rushing and Tyler Dame also had hits.

Darrin Dicus, Bell and Rusty Burks each had hits for Market Place.

Market Place reached the championship game behind the pitching performance of Caleb Davidson, who struck out eight batters with just one walk.

Zack Culver and Hunter Dillender combined for the loss for Elks. The two combined for eight strikeouts.

Dicus led Market Place with three hits. Jacob Owens had two hits and Shane Stewart had a double.

Stephen Beydler, Culver and Spencer Ayers each had hits for Elks.
