WAPPAPELLO - Robert Lee Campbell, 78, formerly of Caruthersville, died March 18, 2003, in Wappapello.

Born Aug. 7, 1924, in Arbyrd, son of the late Harvey Franklin and Pearl Mae Jenkins Campbell, he attended school in Canalou and was a retired janitor. He was of the Assemblies of God belief and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

On Nov. 15, 1945, in Dexter, he married Eunice Marie Gregory who survives of Sikeston.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Sheila Kay Hays of Wappapello and Susan Frances Hays of Sikeston; one sister, Ella Irene Smith of Canalou; and 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Rose Marie Johnson; one son, Norman Lee Campbell; two brothers, Charlie Andrew Campbell and Archie Glen Campbell; and one sister, Evelyn Adeline Landers.

Services were conducted Friday at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home in Caruthersville with the Rev. Dan Doty officiating.

Full military honors were conducted at the Gregory Cemetery in Kennett.

Pallbearers were: David Worley, Chris Polley, Stephen Polley, Kevin L. Hensley, Mark Kneezle and Larry Johnson.
