Opal Myers

EAST PRAIRIE - Opal A. Myers, 88, died at 7 a.m. March 20, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Born June 12, 1914, in New Madrid County, daughter of the late Louis and Nora Hinton Wilburn Sr., she lived in New Madrid and Mississippi counties all her life. She was a landowner in East Prairie where she owned and operated Opal's Beauty Shop and was a member of the First Assembly of God Church.

On April 25, 1946, she married Charlie Myers who preceded her in death on May 17, 1997.

Three brothers and two sisters also preceded her in death.

Survivors include: one son, Steve Myers of East Prairie; two brothers, Roy Wilburn and Louis Wilburn of East Prairie; one sister, Helen Stallings of East Prairie; and one granddaughter, Amy Myers of East Prairie.

Visitation begins at 6 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home where services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday with Michael Stewart officiating.

Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie.

Pallbearers will be: Steve Stokes, Mike Stokes, Mickey Abner, Lynn Britt, Mark Mars and Danny Smithson.
