SIKESTON - Mrs. Charles H. French invited a group of children to her home on North Kingshighway Sunday afternoon to assist her daughter, Linda Ann, in celebrating her fourth birthday anniversary. Those invited were: Linda Boyce, Nancy Bowman, Harry Sharp, Jimmy Matthews, Tommy Kendig, Paul Northington, Alfred Sikes, Allen Blanton, JoAnn Goetz, Leo Fisher, Kathryn Kirby, Suzanne Martin and Cissie Baker.

SIKESTON - Miss Linda Ferguson, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Wilson J. Ferguson will enter Manhattanville College of the Sacred Heart as a member of the class of 1966.

ORAN - Mr. and Mrs. Daugherty of Oran are the parents of their second child, first daughter, born Aug. 24 at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. Ashlei Nicole weighed nine pounds, two ounces on arrival.


SIKESTON - Ted Echols was the winner of a drawing sponsored by the Delta Area Blind, conducted Saturday at Eubanks-Finney Department Store. Echols received a certificate Monday entitling him to $100 worth of gasoline, donated by Bob Jennings of Apco Self Service Station in Sikeston.

SIKESTON - Jessica Felker, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Edward Felker, is September's Standard Democrat calendar girl. Her favorite subjects at Sikeston High School were biology II, choir and government, but now she is busy attending college at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.


SIKESTON - In its Wednesday work session, the Sikeston City Council decided the city will not issue liquor licenses to businesses that have not already received a state liquor license.
