Sikeston School Board
SIKESTON -- Sikeston R-6 Superintendent Steve Borgsmiller, along with school board members, are hoping past and present residents of Sikeston will attend the grand opening of the Math and Science Center from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday on the high school campus.
"It's the public's building," Borgsmiller said. "I think that especially the graduates who went to the original high school should come back and see the changes in the facility."
Because the building is so roomy, one would never know 300 students are taking classes there at one time, Borgsmiller said.
"The only time you know it is when classes change, and the 10th and 11th graders are moving in and out of the building," Borgsmiller said, adding the ninth graders remain in the building most of the day.
Anyone who is unable to attend the grand ceremony Friday and would like to see the new facility can contact the Board of Education office to arrange a tour, Borgsmiller said. "It's a nice new facility," Borgsmiller said. "The community deserves it and has needed it for a long time."
