JACKSON -- Walter W. Young, 88, died Nov. 14, 2007, at Monticello House.

Born April 5, 1919, in Portageville, son of the late William and Ollie Knight Young, he was a grocery store manager in Wardell and then owner and operator of an IGA Foodliner in Sikeston for six years. In 1962, he became a sales representative for National Life Insurance Company and became sales staff manager in 1968 at which time he moved to Cape Girardeau. A 32nd degree Mason, he retired in 1981 but began working in real estate sales with Heartland Realty.

On May 15, 1942, in Kennett, he married Mildred Morris who preceded him in death on Dec. 30, 2003.

Survivors include: two daughters and sons-in-law, Helen and Joseph Goninan of Memphis, Tenn., and Jayne and Kevin Keller of Jackson; four grandchildren, Gregory Y. Goninan, Christopher P. (Jessie) Goninan, Danielle M. Keller and Nicholas R. Keller; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 1 p.m. until time of services at 2 p.m. Sunday at DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville with the Rev. Dr. Buck Morton officiating.

Burial will follow in the Portageville Cemetery.
