elected president of the Southeast Missouri Council, Boy Scouts of America, at its annual meeting Monday night .


SIKESTON - A program to officially kick off the Christmas season will be held at American Legion Park at 8 a.m. Thursday. The high school choir will sing Christmas carols, a speech will be given by the president of the Chamber of Commerce and the Tree of Lights will be illuminated.


SIKESTON - The Kiwanis Club Pancake Day dinner brought in $470.34 for the Missouri Delta Community Hospital building fund.

Nov. 28, 1986

SIKESTON - Daniel Ward of Guthrie, Okla., will assume the duties of city manager for the city of Sikeston. The City Council named the new manager Wednesday.


SIKESTON - Kmart officially opened its doors at 8 a.m. today. At 7 a.m. city officials and dignitaries gathered to view the store before the actual opening.

SIKESTON - During the 1996 Junior High Recognition Night at the Sikeston Elks Lodge, Sikeston Junior High School Principal Paul Kitchen received a plaque commemorating the Freshman football team's 1996 7-0 record.


SIKESTON - The American Cancer Society Gala Committee recently had its wrap-up meeting. The event, conducted Oct. 19, raised $25,600.


SIKESTON - Sikeston Department of Public Safety Chief Jim Leist was the keynote speaker at the Thursday Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce meeting.
