Marcella Billington

BERTRAND - Marcella D. Billington, 78, died at 2:20 p.m. July 3, 2004, at her home in Bertrand.

Born Oct. 26, 1925, in Morehouse to the late John H. and Manda May Bohannon Neal, she lived in West Columbia, Texas, for a number of years before returning to Bertrand in 1998. She was a member of the Bertrand United Methodist Church.

On April 5, 1947, she married Harold C. Billington, who survives of the home.

Also surviving are: one son, Dale Prescott of Victoria, Texas; one daughter, Noma Fay Edwards of Fall City, Wash.; one brother, William E. "Bill" Neal of East Prairie; five sisters, Mildred Moore of Jackson, Mich., Emma Jo Shrum of Fond Du Lac, Wis., Dolly Hall of Brazoria, Texas, Roxie Abernathy of Rockford, Ill., and Mary Guthrie of Charleston; and nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

One daughter, Carline Ruth "Carly" Riley, and three brothers, Thomas Neal, Walter Neal and Robert Price Neal, preceded her in death.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Lois McRill, pastor of the Bertrand United Methodist Church, and the Rev. Charles Kohlbaker of Bertrand will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Sikeston City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Dale Prescott, Bill Haynes, Nathan Guthrie, Paul Johnson, Don Cummins and Leroy Gamble.
